  Cold forming refers to the bending of the strip along the longitudinal direction in a straight line (cold forming die). The pressure generated in the process of bending deformation is combined with the residual stress in the strip, which often causes the strip to deviate from the center of the cold forming roller. The most common terms used to describe how the strip deviates from the last forming roll are: side bending -- horizontal bending, warping -- vertical bending, and twisting -- helical. To solve this problem, a straightening mechanism should be used at the end of the cold forming machine.

  The basic principle of straightening mechanism is that for profiles with defects such as side bending and warping, sufficient pressure is applied in the opposite direction by the straightening mechanism to make it permanently deformed. If the amount of deformation in the opposite direction is appropriate, the profile can be completely straightened after springback. If the molded profile is distorted in one direction, the straightening mechanism rotates the profile in the opposite direction in order to produce a permanent plastic deformation. If the rotation Angle is appropriate, the profile will not twist after springback.

  Straightening of bending or distortion is usually performed between the last forming roll and the cutting die. If the last roll cannot support the profile effectively, the entire profile section must be supported when entering one side of the straightening mechanism. When the asymmetric profile is straightened, torsional deformation may occur at the same time of straightening. In this case, bending and torsional straightening should be carried out simultaneously in the opposite direction of the profile deformation. In the straightening process, the profile will move up and down, so that the clearance between the straightening mechanism and the profile should be relatively loose. There may be a certain gap between the straightening mechanism and the surface of the profile.
